We have several St Lucia’s painted in some of our Norfolk churches - before the calendar changed in 1752, her day coincided with the Winter Solstice which actually makes more sense given her association with bringing light at the darkest part of the year. Anyway earlier I watched SVT’s beautiful Lucia celebration from Kalmar Slott and it was so festive, really lovely music and the castle is an incredible setting. Three days in, the house has finally defrosted and everything is working - we will make sure we winterise everything properly before we leave this week so that when we’re back in the new year its good to go but we’re very grateful the old lady has forgiven us our tardiness - we should have done it in Oct - lesson learnt!
