“I have always loved paper. From the folded snowflakes you make as a child to watching shadow puppets as a little girl - paper, the smell and the feel of it has always attracted me.
My designs reflect and are prompted by the myths and natural beauty of the countryside.
I was born and brought up in Wales, and but now live in rural Suffolk with my husband and sons. We also spend part of the year in Sweden - one reason my designs have a scandinavian feel to them. The countryside and its magical beauty are an inspiration to me.
Seren - star in welsh - is an inspiring word and I like to think my papercuts inspire my customers.”

My story:

I’m Jo, a mixed media artist working with paper, ink, thread and other materials to turn my creative ideas into beautiful things. I often use old and vintage objects to create something new.

I like my designs to tell a story or cast a spell - papercuts especially have a fragile, fairytale character that makes them appeal to all ages.

Deep in the Suffolk countryside I spend many happy hours working away at my designs. I’m inspired by places, the woods and heaths that surround me and my love for Scandinavia. My family has a farmhouse in Sweden, deep in a mossy forest and I escape there whenever I can.

You can read about that on my blog – https://lillarodahus.wordpress.com

My Swedish is rubbish but I’m doing my best to learn.  As well as creating things I’m into books and history; most days I walk my paper-eating dog Archie and document my life with photos which I post to my Instagram account @serenpapercuts
