Evening Swim Hanging Silver Metal Foil Papercut

Pretty handcut silver foil hanging ornament, perfect for walls and windows.
My metal foil sculptures are lovingly cut by hand, using the same technique as my papercuts but with the foil bringing extra sparkle. They look as delicate and light as fine lace and hung on a wall or hanging in a window they catch and reflect the light.
Each design is first drawn by me onto a sheet of fine silver craft foil. The basic shapes are cut by hand, then I use a blunt point to emboss and illustrate the details, adding cuts and pinpricks here and there. The individual pieces are then assembled and stuck together onto a simple wire frame, with the base made from foraged driftwood or fallen wood from deciduous trees. As each design is made by hand, according to my whims, every one is unique. All come gift boxed, making them perfect to send as a gift.
I grew up on the Welsh coast and as a child would go sea fishing with my Dad and brother in our little boat. Boats and ships are in my blood as my great grandfather was a master mariner, maybe my love of the sea comes from him. This little foilcut shows a beautiful and serene whale gliding under a moonlit starry sky.
All my work is inspired by the countryside around my home, the folklore and history of the plants and wildlife that live here and the other animals and plants that speak to me.
Fairy tales and magic are a huge influence on my work and I like to think my designs capture the magic of nature and bring it into my customers’ homes.
